cdaadr_page-patCLREmeritus Professor Pat Costello was Acting Director of Clinical Programs at the University of Idaho College of Law until July 2013. He has more than 30 years of experience as an ADR provider, instructor, litigator, and judge. He was co-supervising attorney of the University of Idaho College of Law Mediation Clinic from 2009 to 2013 . He has served as mediator, arbitrator, evaluator, or fact-finder in employment, personal injury, public-sector collective bargaining, and family disputes.

Professor Costello has taught ADR courses for the University of Idaho College of Law, the University of Idaho School of Business and Economics, and for the University Studies Abroad Consortium (Costa Rica). Professor Costello has participated in many mediation, arbitration or negotiation training courses at the University of Idaho Northwest Institute for Dispute Resolution and at the Pepperdine Strauss Institute for Dispute Resolution. He served as a Magistrate Judge of the Idaho Second Judicial District from 1992-1999, and is currently a member of the Nez Perce Tribe Court of Appeals.

Lawyer-mediator Jim Browitt is based in Lewiston, Idaho. He graduated from the University of Idaho College of Law, where he was an intern in the Mediation Clinic. He co-mediated many cases with Prof. Costello and Prof. and Clinical Program Director Maureen Laflin. His clinical experience included general civil and family cases, and federal civil rights litigation.

Jim received further training as a civil mediator at the Northwest Institute for Dispute Resolution. He also has received specialized training to facilitate resolution of environmental and public policy disputes, also from the Northwest Institute. His law practice focuses on natural resources and water law. He is a certified mediator for the Nez Perce Tribal Court. He is licensed to practice law in Idaho and Washington.
